A fugitive in 13-year old Sheikh Samiul Alam Rajon murder case surrendered to the court on Sunday.
Accused Shamim Ahmed, who awarded seven years imprisonment in the case, surrendered to Sylhet Metropolitan Magistrate Court and sought for bail.
Judge Akbar Hossain Mridha rejected his bail plea and sent him to jail after hearing in the case.
Plaintiff`s lawyer Moshrur Chowdhury Shawkat confirmed this.
Meanwhile, on November 8, the same court sentenced four convicts including the prime accused Kamrul Islam to death over the much-talked and sensational case.
The court also sentenced six other convicts to different term imprisonment and acquitted three as they were not found guilty in the murder.
Shamim is one of the convicted who went hiding shortly after the murder happened.
On July 8 this year, a vegetable vendor Sheikh Samiul Alam Rajon, 13, was beaten to death at a garage in Sylhet’s Kumargaon falsely accusing him of stealing a rickshaw van. The killers also released a video of the torture on social media websites triggering severe criticisms.
On August 16, Investigation Officer Suranjit Talukder, also an inspector of the Detective Branch of Sylhet Metropolitan Police, submitted the charge sheet to the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Shahedul Karim, accusing the 13 people and showing 38 others as witnesses.
On September 22, a Sylhet court framed charges against the 13 people, including prime accused Kamrul.
