The security measures have tightened more in and around Dhaka Central Jail before executing death sentences of condemned war criminals Salauddin Quader Chowdhury and Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed.
Additional members of police were deployed on Saturday morning. Besides, members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), among other law enforcers were seen to patrol the area. Law enforcers also took positions on the roofs of adjacent buildings of the jail.
Traffic on the street in front of the jail has been stopped and security forces are frisking anyone who looks suspicious.
Mafiz Uddin, deputy police commissioner of Lalbag zone, said that security measures have been beefed up for past few days over the execution of two death-row convicts. Police are on alert to avoid any unexpected incident.
