The High Court (HC) has rejected a writ petition filed over challenging the legality of holding cabinet and parliament memberships of Relief and Disaster Management Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya.
A single high court bench led by Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed passed the order on Thursday.
Advocate Abdul Baset Majumder move for Maya in the court while Advocate Younus Ali Akond stood for the petitioner.
Prior to this, an HC bench comprising Justice Moinul Islam and Justice Md. Ashraful Kamal passed a divided order over the writ on August 17 this year.
As per the rule, Chief Justice formed a single bench comprising Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed for hearing the writ.
Today, the single bench rejected the writ.
On June 13 in 2007, ACC filed the case against Maya with Sutrapur police station on charge of amassing illegal wealth worth Tk29 lakh and concealing information about it.
